Los Campasinos! / Ben Folds covers Postal Service

Finals are over!  No more school to think about for another month!  This calls for celebration and right now Los Campesinos! seem the most fitting soundtrack to my current state of jubilation.  They’re a bunch of kids from the UK with one simple goal with their music…have fun.  And it’s pretty evident in their music that they are doing just that.  All the members of the band, according to myspace, have the last name Campesinos!, exclamation mark included, but something tells me they’re not all related.  That doesn’t matter though.  They make fun music, and if you enjoyed CSS or Artic Monkeys, I’m sure you’ll like these guys as well.

I found them through Audiosport’s blog, but go there and listen to his player on the left.  One of the best playlists I’ve heard in a long while.

Ben Folds – Such Great Heights (Postal Service cover during his myspace show, ft. the Guitarchestra)

I absolutely love this video.  I’ve been behind on my Ben Folds news.  I never caught him on his last tour, so I had no idea Such Great Heights was the big cover song he was playing on all the stops, and I also didn’t realize he released Supersunnyspeedgraphic LP, which was some rarities like Bitches Ain’t Shit, and most his EP’s in one, until way after the fact.  Regardless of?me falling behind on my Ben Folds news, this video is still great.  He deadens his piano, plays a mean synth part, all while being accompanied by something like 40 guitar players on acoustic guitar which he appropriately calls the Guitarchestra.? The end is pretty cool as well, as people watching all pull out their cell phones and turn their respective ringer on to make a sound collage of cell phone ringers.  All I know is I wish I was in the Ben Folds’ Guitarchestra.
