Loch Lomond
I’ve fallen behind in the whole “helping bands and labels out” aspect of the blog I set out to accomplish in the first place and this week I aim to fix that. I’m going to sift through the mountains of emails I’ve received and pull out the best of the bunch. Up first is Loch Lomond.

Loch Lomond was originally a solo project of Ritchie Young in 2003 and after a debut album entitled When We Were Mountains and various encarnations of his band, we find him today with a new album on Hush Records called Lament for Children and a set band of nine people behind him. I’m just now giving the album a listen through, but I liked the few mp3’s they initially made available enough to post on them, so hopefully that tells you something. I keep thinking of the lead singer of the band Elefant when I think of Ritchie’s voice, except a little higher pitched, combined with the Decemberist’s style of music. That should give you a decent idea of their sound. Or maybe a mix of Elefant and The Starlight Mints. All comparisons aside, it’s damn good so check it out.
