SSLYBY Finally Sound Professional

I love Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. I’ve talked about them time and time again here at the Perch because, besides the fact they make great music, they’re also from right here in Springfield, MO and are good friends. But the big problem I always had with their album Broom was the fact that it sounded like they recorded it in their attic. Which, of course, they actually did, but that made the excitement that much greater when I found out they were getting signed and that album was going to be remastered and re-released. I’ve become somewhat of an audio gearhead since taking all these recording classes and love well polished albums that are a treat to listen to with headphones. Broom, both old and reissued just never did that for me. Well, enter their new 7 inch which features the songs “Not Worth Fighting” and “Half Awake (Deb)”. I just came across the second song through Catbirdseat’s blog, and if that’s any indication of the new album, am I ever excited to hear it. I’ve heard most the stuff that’s bound to be on the new album, since they’d always played about two albums worth of songs in their numerous shows here in Springfield, but hearing them all polished up and professionally recorded should be a treat. Here’s “Half Awake (Deb)”, their new song that sounds very Pinback-esque with blippy precise guitars and harmonizing. We’ll have to wait for the new album, but this makes me all the more eager to see what they come up with.
EDIT: I have no idea why my little flash player is slightly slowing the song down when it plays it, but it makes the song sound slightly different in a creepy way. I’m pretty sure the mp3 is still fine, it sounded fine when I downloaded and played it from my link, but just in case, here’s the Catbirdseat link I originally got it from so you don’t have a weird slowed down version. I’ll leave the streaming player up just for kicks. Who knows, maybe it’s just my computer acting up.
