The Republic Tigers

The Republic Tigers are my current favorite band hands down.  Holly introduced me to them after seeing them open for her brother’s band Shhh, which is a great band itself.  She threw some of their songs my way and I couldn’t get enough of them.  First of all, right off the bat you realize that all six of them can sing better than most lead singers out there, and their harmonies are the best I’ve heard in a long while.  Of course, I can’t say I’ve even heard a band quite like Republic Tigers.  The singing is somewhat similar to that of Beta Band or Hot Chip, with the calm, whispered type vocals.  I played their song “Made Concrete” on my radio show, so you may remember hearing that mp3 on my last Perch Mix, and if you enjoyed that song, then the rest of their stuff is up to par with that.  I’d start with “Made Concrete”, then go from there.  Besides that song, my other favorite is “Patterns”, but that’s only on their myspace so go over the and take a listen to that song for sure.  I don’t think their album is available just yet, but when it is I’ll let you know because it’s bound to be one of the year’s best, most unique offerings and I can’t wait.

They are quite amazing, keep playing them, Stranger to the Eyes of a Child Man is my favorite.

They were recently signed to Chop Shop Records, you can read a little bit about it here http://new-juice-music.blogspot.com/2007/11/republic-tigers-sign-to-chop-shop.html

These guys are great!

They are so spectacular! I saw them live opening for Tally Hall in April and I fell in love! I can’t stop playing their songs. Fight Song is definitely my favorite.
