Perch Radio Playlist 5/13/07

Well, the school year is almost over and unfortunately my ties with the school, and more importantly it’s radio station, are all but over. It was a fun little run and something I honestly just wanted to test out. Having a radio show and all. Maybe I’ll get hired at our local NPR station to do their indie hour. Who knows. Either way, I hope those of you that caught it enjoyed the playlist and my ramblings and for those of you that missed it, here are the songs.

  1. Life Aquatic – Let Me Tell You About My Boat
  2. Bjork – Dull Flame of Desire
  3. Beirut – Elephant Gun

  4. St. Vincent – Paris is Burning
  5. Sondre Lerche – Phantom Punch
  6. Sondre Lerche – Tragic Mirror
  7. Metric – Parkdale

  8. Sufjan Stevens – Lord God Bird
  9. Sufjan Stevens – Majesty Snowbird (live from the New York’s Town Hall)
  10. Sound Team – Back in Town
  11. The National – Fake Empire

  12. Cloud Cult – Alien Christ
(player doesn’t work with this one for some reason. Still worth listening too believe me)
  13. The Acorn – Plates & Saucers
  14. Margot & the Nuclear So & So’s – Paper Kitten Nightmare
  15. Cake – Dime

  16. Spoon – The Way We Get By

  17. Iron & Wine – The Trapeze Swinger

Highlights include new Bjork featuring Antony from Antony and the Johnsons, two new Sondre Lerche songs from his new album showing both his new and old style of songs, a Metric rarity from their older EP, one of my favorite Cloud Cult songs from their new album, and the absolutely wonderful live performance of “Majesty Snowbird” at New York’s Town Hall by Sufjan. There’s plenty here for everyone and I think it’s a worthy list of old and new to end my show on. Playing the “Lord God Bird” got me curious if I still had that NPR segment it originally came from and what do you know, I found it!

Bonus:

Sufjan Stevens – Lord God Bird (entire NPR segment)

Tragic Mirror by Sondre is something special and has changed my mind about Phantom Punch – so thanks! Oh and isn’t Sufjan looking good in that photo…
