The Trials of Darryl Hunt

I can thank Lucas over at Team Clermont for this recommendation. The Trials of Darryl Hunt is an HBO documentary about Darryl Hunt, a man wrongly accused of the rape and murder of a young woman and was in jail for over 20 years before evidence finally freed him. From the trailer, it looks like it is an excellent documentary and I look forward to seeing it here pretty soon when it gets a theatrical release this month or in July. The point of this post isn’t necessarily to promote the documentary, but mainly its soundtrack. I’ll keep the description short and let the songs speak for themselves, but among the highlights are Paul Brill, who pens the score and is quite the singer/songwriter himself, as well as songs from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, M.Ward, Califone, Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s (first new stuff in two years), and a new live track from our favorite singer/songwriter Andrew Bird. All the info you need is below, but you may want to buy this soundtrack not only because of the great music throughout, but also the net proceeds go to the Darryl Hunt Foundation.

Look for the documentary to be released throughout the country this month or in July, and look for a post on Paul Brill soon once I get some of his music. It’s truly great stuff and he’s done a lot of great soundtracks besides this one as well.
