LemonDrop is almost upon us!

I’ve been super busy all week with LemonDrop stuff and I couldn’t be happier to finally be saying that.  My good friend back in KC designed that tasty promo poster for our upcoming LemonDrop Showcase show next Thursday.  I’ve also got a new friend of mine Casey working on another poster design I think we’ll use as the main poster for shop windows downtown.  Right now the above one is plastered all over campus.

Besides the poster designs being done and posted up everywhere, we’ve also convinced the school’s paper to write about us (mainly b/c I used to work there) and our interview with them went great.  I’ll post up the story next Tuesday once it is run.  We’ll probably throw an ad in that issue as well for the show as thanks to the paper for writing about us, and just because more advertising for the show never hurts.  We’ve checked in to t-shirt designs and since they all averaged around $9 a shirt after printing, which we definitely didn’t have, we’re going to try out something Charlie came across and go for the homemade route and see how it works.  If we someday become the next Sub Pop, you know those puppies are going to be worth a lot of money.

What else?  Oh, we’ve got some stamps ordered that we’ll have Nathan P. Murphy’s door guy stamp on everyone’s hands as proof of admission that have our website address on it.  Simple…yes.  Brilliant idea…you bet.  At the least everyone there now knows our website and will go to it.  I’m sure there’s more we’ve done, but this being my first show I’ve ever promoted this hard, my head’s still spinning with all the stuff we’ve done and still need to do.  This is the epitome of finding a job you truly love.  Now, I just need to find a way to make some money from it so I can stop working manual labor for my uncle.

If you’re in Springfield next Thursday, come out and help support our cause, our label, and our bands in general.  All the money we walk away with from this show will go straight into our shiny new LemonDrop bank account and serve as the starting funds for all the things we’re going to need to pay for like business licenses, tax id licenses, professional looking t-shirts, pressing CDs and Vinyl, advertising costs, and so much more.  LemonDrop is just a tiny infant of a label at the moment, but boy if we aren’t an energetic little tike at that.  I hope everyone’s as excited as I am and once we get this show over with and some money in our label, then things are really going to take of.  We’ll finish recording our three bands, start selling merch and albums, and our bands will be there ready to interact with their fans.

If I can get a Perch Mix up this weekend, I’ll definitely do that.  For now, listen to the ever-interesting music of our newest signee, e$money, which is Erwin’s solo project. He is the drummer for Reset now.  If you like Four Tet or Mad Lib, kind of experimental instrumental hip-hop stuff, then you should like Erwin’s stuff.  If you’re surprised by how different it sounds and think it’s surprising for me to be promoting stuff like that, well, then be prepared for that reaction a lot over the course of LemonDrop’s future.  We have no genre, so whatever interests us and we think deserves to be heard, LemonDrop shall back it.  Now, quit reading my blog and go get some sun!  It’s beautiful outside.

For those t-shirts, have you guys looked into CafePress? I believe it’s free, but I’m not sure how much profit you’ll make from each sale…I don’t think its much but good to get those t-shirts out there with the LemonDrop Name on them!
