LemonDrop Start Up Show Tonight! + New Band of Horses

I don’t know whether to be incredibly excited, nervous, or just relieved, but the last two weeks of work are about to pay off. Tonight our LemonDrop benefit show is finally here and I can’t wait. I’m learning how to run a record label every step of the way, and this was a very successful stab at how to promote a show. Considering I’d never truly promoted a big show before, I’m plenty happy with the stuff we pulled off. We got posters designed, printed off, and plastered everywhere. We got a story written on us in the school paper. Paid for advertising all over the place, then recruited an army of word of mouth promoters in our friends because we got them so excited for the whole LemonDrop idea. And the only thing we really didn’t get done in time was t-shirts, but what can ya do? So, if you’re in Springfield tonight, doors are at 8:30pm at Nathan P. Murphy’s and it should be an absolute blast.

Since this is a music blog and all, I do have a little something for you. I’ve become super biased towards anything Band of Horses releases since I both interned at Sub Pop and was in their Great Salt Lake video. They are close to releasing a new album called Cease to Begin on October 9 through Sub Pop. If this first single is any indication, then the new album should be one of the year’s best. Head over to Puddlegum and check out the post that originally informed me about the new Band of Horses song.
