Man oh man what a great show. Pushing Daisies is a new show on ABC Wednesday nights and all I have to say is I had a smile on my face the entire episode. Think Amelie turned into a TV show. Colorful, fun cinematography. Fun, fantasy filled plots. And an overall happiness brought by the upbeat Yann Tiersen like music that makes this truly a memorable series and one I’ll be eager to watch every week. The basic plot is that the main character can bring people back to life by touching them, but the catch is he has to touch them again within a minute, causing them to die again, or someone in the vacinity will suddenly die because he didn’t return that original person to being dead. A detective sort of guy sees him do this once and plots with him to wake dead people up, ask them who murdered them, then go collect the reward. The twist comes when he sees his childhood crush on the news, saying she’d been strangled on a cruise ship and found in the ocean. Once he resurrects her, he can’t get himself to touch her again, the pall bearer dies as a result, and we’re left with this long lost love between the two sparking again, only he can never touch her again or she’ll die again.

It’s a beautiful show in many ways, from the way it’s filmed, to the underlying themes, and it will surely kill me to watch the two fall more in love over the season and never be able to touch. The first episode was quirky, full of emotion, and just plain fun to watch like Amelie was, and made me feel all kinds of happy inside after watching it.

It’s a shame you guys missed it tonight, because everyone needs to watch it. I just wish there was some place, like a Japanese youtube spin-off, that had it to watch. But that’d be illegal. Tis a shame indeed. Maybe they’ll show an encore next week before the new one. Watch it next week for sure. My new favorite show.
