Sigur Ros – Hvarf/Heim Released Today
Sigur Ros finally break their silence with Hvarf/Heim, a two EP companion soundtrack to their new DVD Heima. Just watching the trailer gives me chills, so I absolutely can’t wait to finally see it. I’m working on my own little campaign to get our art house movie theatre, the Moxie, to screen the documentary, since their label is asking anyone interested to just email them and they’ll hook them up. So if I can get the Moxie truly interested and ultimately playing it, Springfield better thank it’s lucky stars they have me in town. Man I can’t wait for this doc to be released November 20th. Mark that date my friends. For now, go out and pick up the two EP soundtrack. Hvarf is all new studio songs, either reworked unreleased ones, or completely new songs newly written by the band. Heim is the live acoustic recordings from their performances during the documentary. If you’ve been lucky enough to catch Sigur Ros live in concert, then Heim will be a great listen for you as it captures the epic nature of their live shows perfectly. Be sure to listen to my favorite song from Hvarf, “Hafsol”, the nine minute long monster of a song is just breathtaking to see live, and this new studio version is just as powerful as the live version.
