The Perch Mix CDs Vol. 1 - Orchestra

First off, check out that photoshop job! You wouldn’t even be able to tell it wasn’t real if not for my spotty clone stamp job around the wings. Oh, and the fact that there’s a 30 foot pelican conducting from behind the orchestra. But hey, that’s the extent of my photoshop skillz.

Anyway. As I mentioned before, for Christmas I decided to make my aunt a bunch of mix CDs with all kinds of themes. I ended up with the following: happy, sad, sleep, garden, around the house, orchestra, and love. As you may have guessed, the following is my Orchestra themed mix. Not to brag or anything, but I think these mixes are among the best I’ve ever compiled. Mainly b/c I spent way too much time perfecting which songs to add and making them blend nicely from one song to the next. It’s a bit of an obsession, but I love it. The present went over really well, with my sister’s painting of her two dogs capping it off, but hearing her say she listened to the Around the House mix while cooking and it was perfect for what she was doing definitely made me feel like I succeeded. My favorite mix at the moment is my Orchestra mix, partly because orchestra elements added to any indie rock win me over every time, and it’s my favorite genre, but I really do think this mix is great. I’m sure there’s a ton of stuff here you’ve never heard of. I’ll stop rambling and let you enjoy the mix. Expect a new mix every Friday until I’ve posted all of them. I’m excited for everyone to hear all of them finally.

Mix Theme: Orchestra

  1. Sondre Lerche - I Love You
  2. Sufjan Stevens - Chicago
  3. Yann Tiersen - Jours Triste
  4. Mark Mothersbaugh - Sonata for Cello and Piano in F Major
  5. Yann Tiersen - La Valse d’Amélie (orchestra)
  6. Yann Tiersen - La Rupture
  7. Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire - 11:11
  8. Beirut - Forks and Knives (La Fete)
  9. Andrew Bird - The Water Jet Cilice
  10. Final Fantasy - Song, Song, Song
  11. Max Richter - November
  12. Max Richter - Written on the Sky
  13. Max Richter - On the Nature of Daylight
  14. Andrew Bird - Yawny at the Apocalypse

I’d recommend downloading them all and listening to them straight through since that’s how I compiled them. With the intention of them flowing in and out of each other. But if you don’t have time for that, just stream them as I’m sure there’s plenty to enjoy on a song by song basis. Let me know what you think and enjoy!
