New Cloud Cult! – When Water Comes to Life
I was browing through the Hype Machine yesterday seeing what was “popular” and I randomly came across a post over at Side One: Track One, a blog I love by the way, and those sly devils in Cloud Cult are a few months away from releasing another album. Where the heck was I when they decided not to take a break after their last album like they said, and instead pumped out yet another album.

I’m telling you though, proclaiming a band one of your favorites ever is such a bold thing to do, but at this rate Cloud Cult are about to fall into my top 5. I mean, everything they have released is golden in my book, falling perfectly in line with my love for both use of orchestration in a rock song, as well as perfect use of subtle electronic elements. And while The Meaning of 8 was my #2 album of last year, and their release previous to that was in my top 5 of 2006 I believe, this new single has somehow found Cloud Cult not only continuing the great songwriting found throughout Meaning, but blows it away with full orchestration during the minute and a half long intro, that seamlessly blends into Minowa singing softly, only to continuously grow more intense until we’ve got the whole band singing and playing at the end with the orchestra behind them. Ah, I love it.
Their new album, Feel Good Ghosts (Tea Partying Through Tornadoes) comes out April 8th and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m already proclaiming it top 5 of 2008 before I even hear the whole album. Think that statement’s crazy? You bet it is. Crazy like a fox.

well i’m excited! their concert is next weekend in KC, hope you can make it
