Listen to all of Phantom Planet’s “Raise the Dead”

I just got done listening to Phantom Planet’s new album “Raise the Dead”, which is on Fueled by Rahmen and is out next Tuesday.  “Dropped” is great, as is most the album and I can see this album growing into a definite keeper throughout the year.  Where their previous self-titled album found them not quite achieving that balance between bad ass rock songs and their established pop sound, leading to an album that was basically rock the first half, and pop the second, this new album I feel a lot more confident in.  The pure distorted guitar and big drums are toned down quite a bit to let in more of that vintage Phantom Planet pop greatness I loved oh so long ago.  I’ll have to give it plenty more listens once I get my hands on it, but even after one listen to their new album, I’m sitting here smiling and glad I’m listening to more Phantom Planet, and not just more Phantom Planet, more old school sounding Phantom Planet.  And that’s a very good thing right there.

Stream the album at their myspace.

Recommended songs if you don’t have time to stream the whole album:
Dropped,
Leader (for the kid sung chorus),
and Do the Panic (anyone who bought the Guest knows this song, which was featured on the bonus disc as a live performance)

Buy the album and get a limited edition signed booklet
