The Perch Stops Here…
Well, it finally happened. My worst fears came true. I don’t know how I’m sitting here in a somewhat happy mood, maybe it’s because the Sun is out and everyone’s in a good mood, but to say I’m a bit devastated today is an understatement. I woke up this morning to an email from the company I have my site hosted with and they said as of tomorrow my site will be shut down. I’ve always tried to be completely legit and post mainly stuff the promo companies OK for me to post, but my love for music, and more importantly for sharing it with you guys, led me to posting more than just the OK’d songs, but the songs I truly loved from those albums. From what I got in the email, someone was alerted there that my blog was posting more than what was allowed and I guess a mini-investigation into the Perch was started. Sifting through my archive for what must’ve been a few days, they said they found more than enough to warrant their decision.
Their decision? To end the Pelican’s Perch. So, much to my dismay, and regardless of all my efforts, it seems today is the final post on the Perch. But instead of dwelling on the negative aspect of this terrible situation, I think I’ll just stay positive and say how much I appreciate each and every one of my readers. From the regulars that I’ve become friends with over the years and talked many hours of music with (Alex, Dylan, Tiffany, etc. etc.), to the new faces I meet almost on a daily basis. You’re all the reason the Perch even got this big, and I thank you for that. So, instead of rambling on and on like I normally do, I’ll just end it short and sweet.
I love you all and hope that if I don’t hear from you through my record label, I’ll be able to keep in touch with as many Perch readers as I can in the near future. Thanks for the great times, it was fun, and keep the indie music obsession alive in the Perch’s name.
