The Ting Tings

I don’t know how many of you came to the site in the last couple of days to find it had vanished. Believe me, I was as surprised as you were. Had my April Fool’s joke become a reality? I called the hosting company I go through, and obviously I get someone I can’t understand. It ends up being their server, which my site is hosted on, was down. WTF Mang, I thought. The conversation basically went like this:
Me: So the trouble is on your end?
Guy: Yep, our server is down that your site is hosted on.
Me: Don’t you have back-up servers so site’s don’t just have to shut down when your servers go down? I mean, my roommate works on our school’s website and they even have back-up servers for that very problem. And you guys HOST WEBSITES for your business and you don’t have back-ups. I’m a blogger and I know if you did this to a site that depended on their site for making money, they would lose a bunch of money.
Guy: I’m sorry sir. Our servers will be back up as soon as possible.
Me: That’s it?! That’s all your giving me? Are you being serial right now? I mean ser’s’ly. That’s pathetic I’m paying you guys money and this is your response to my site being completely offline for two whole days?
Guy: Basically. Our server will be back up as soon as possible.
Me: Well, I guess I’ll just wait patiently. *click*
*email - thank you for calling in. We hope your problem was resolved. Please fill out this survey regarding your operator. How was the service………..terrible. Signed Kevin.
So, that’s about how that went down. I read all over the place this company was sketchy like that, but I’m nowhere near as big as some of the other sites complaining, so I didn’t have too much trouble waiting it out. But still, that shizz is annoying! They’re lucky I never get too steamed about anything and get over things fast.
But I’m back and it feels great! Checkin’ the ol’ email today, I actually decided to dive into a random promo email for kicks. Something I usually reserve for the weekend when I have time to sift through all the “Hi Kevin, (enter label name) is proud to present (enter band)” emails. I’m telling you people, contact me directly and personally and you’ll find me way more receptive. I love talking to people one on one. But anyway, I decided to listen to a random band amongst the mix today and they ended up being great. The Ting Tings sounded like a fun name, and their music ended up fitting the name perfectly. It falls right in line with all the dance music I’ve been listening to lately, and if I had to describe it, I’d say it’s what Tegan and Sara would sound like if they took to DJ’ing dance parties. The guy sings every now and then, but the girl singer definitely reminds me of Tegan and Sara.
Check them out and let me know what you think. Sorry for the long rant and extra long post, but I felt like sharing my website woes with you guys. No worries though. All is well at the Perch. Now, I’m going to keep listening to “That’s Not My Name” on repeat.
