Bombadil – A Buzz, A Buzz

If you liked Langhorne Slim, you’ll most likely enjoy Bombadil as well. I got their new album A Buzz, A Buzz in the mail earlier this week and from the first couple songs I immediately thought, these guys sound just like Langhorne Slim, I bet I’ll really like this album. And what do you know, I did. I’d categorize Bombadil’s music as fun folk, with most songs feeling like sing-a-long’s full of guitar, strings, snare drum, madolins, and a whole assortment of folk instruments. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to grab your dancing boots and a girl and hit the dance floor.
Some songs are hit and miss throughout, and I’d give Langhorne Slim the slight edge, but the stand-out songs are great, like the title track and “Johnny”, and it’s a fun album to put on the background behind whatever you may be doing at the time. Be sure to check out their myspace and give a listen to a few of their songs. I’m sure most of you will enjoy them. They get a thumbs up from me, which is saying a lot considering this music isn’t exactly my cup of tea. But hey, good music is good music no matter what genre of music it is, and Bombadil’s new one is exactly that.
