Emancipator

First off, let me begin by saying that I am absolutely obsessed with The Sixty One. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s basically like Digg, except for music. You get points for listening to people’s music around the site, then you can spend the points to “bump” the songs you like. The more a song gets bumped, the higher it climbs until it makes it to the front page. The earlier you bump a song, the more points it costs you, but if you bump early and the song gets huge, then you earn more points in return. It’s pretty complicated, but I got on it to promote our bands, and ended up starting my own profile and am loving it.
But the main reason I love the site is because of the inner blogger in me. It’s like a goldmine of new, untapped talent and so far I’ve found at least 10 bands I plan on talking about here. The first is Emancipator. He’s a DJ out of Virginia that just got off a tour in Japan, and I can honestly say I could listen to his music all day long. He released his new album, Soon It Will Be Cold Enough, on a label in Japan, so at the moment, unless you really want to try and figure out all those symbols over at the Japanese Amazon page, I’ll just do you a favor and post all the mp3’s he’s made available on The Sixty One, and the remixes I found throughout the net.
Shook (Sigur Ros vs. Mob Deep) [mp3]
When I Go (ft. Thao Nguyen) [mp3]
Wolf Drawn (from his album) [mp3]
Cross It Remix (Jose Gonzalez vs. Miss Elliott) [mp3]
Shutterbuggin’ Remix (Buck 65) [mp3]
Hoofprints in the Sand (Sage Francis remix) [mp3]
And last but definitely not least, here’s the video for his song “Anthem”, which is by far my favorite of all his tracks. It’s the last song off his album. I couldn’t find it anywhere on the net, so the video will have to do. Hope you all enjoy his music as much as I have.
