Someone I Know Has Heard Andrew Bird’s “Noble Beast”
Good friend to the Perch and one time co-Perch writer, Dylan, told me not five minutes ago that he’d recently listened to Andrew Bird’s new album streamed from a super secret location. Forget the fact that for some reason the Perch wasn’t invited in on this secret action (I’ll hear it soon enough I guess), but our convo was very short, yet got me all kinds of excited.
Me: How is it?
Dylan: It is wonderful. I don’t care what the songs may sound like live, they’re the kind of songs that you can just listen to and soak in.

Yep, that was pretty much our convo, but there’s your confirmation from a Perch secret informant that the new Andrew Bird is amazing. The fact that Bird himself said it was the most enjoyable album he’s made thus far was enough for me to hear to get me excited, but now that I know someone that’s heard it, I simply can’t wait. Noble Beast will be released January 27th, 2009 on Fat Possum.

Andrew Bird is truly amazing. And judging by some of the new material I heard live at two of his shows this past month, I suppose it shouldn’t be a surprise that the new album is, well…amazing. I just wish we didn’t have to wait so long. Might as well make it February, Andrew!
