Locust Toybox is the musical stylings of one David Firth.  He’s an animator who is most known for creating the super weird Salad Fingers cartoon shorts.  I was familiar with his cartoons, but had no idea he made music as well.  If you could imagine what kind of music would come from an animator that makes strange, eeiry cartoons, then his music as Locust Toybox would undoubtedly be what you heard in your head.  Fun, A.D.D. driven, whimsical electronic music.  If you’re familiar with Boards of Canada, it’s kind of like their music, only if they were 8 year olds on Halloween all hopped up on sugar.  All his music is available for free on the Sixty One, so head there if you want to grab some of his tunes, but I just wanted everyone to hear his music because I’m in a good mood today and this should do something to help put you in a better mood as well.

Here’s one of his more popular cartoons.  Not the salad fingers character, but it’s called Video Dating Tape, and it cheers you up in the creepiest kind of way.  Not really sure if that makes sense, but that’s how all his cartoons are.  As a bonus, I’ve found the very relaxing, yet great background tune from the video.  It’s called “Blue” by Sebastiean Svahn and reminds me a lot of the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack.  I’ve been listening to his free tunes and am thinking of doing a mini post on his music too.  Simple stuff, but I’m loving it.
