Alan Wilkis – Pink and Purple

Alan sent me his newest release, Pink and Purple, last week and I couldn’t be happier that I took time to check it out.  One review described his music as “Hall & Oates or Stevie Wonder playing with Kraftwerk”.  I can definitely hear that, as it’s a strange electro/synth/funk hybrid of an album and is most likely in a genre all it’s own.  You’ll notice almost immediately how upbeat and fun his music is.  I had listened to his last album, but wasn’t sure what to expect this time around, and after I got through the first couple songs, I couldn’t help but smile and think, dang that was great.

If you’re looking for some new tunes to kick start your weekly dance party, look no further than Pink and Purple.  Alan has crafted the best 80’s throwback album of 2009 and an album I couldn’t recommend more to brighten your summer days a bit.  (…and make sure to check out the audio section of his site to stream the whole album and hear his great remix of “1901″ by Phoenix)
