Alive in Joburg – The Short Film that Led to District 9

Most of you have seen the teaser trailers for Neill Blomkamp’s movie District 9, but this week they finally unveiled a full-fledged trailer that tells a lot more about the plot and the way the movie will look.  I absolutely can’t wait to see this in August, as it seems to successfully avoid the War of the Wars look that has been taking over alien movies as of late.  It was produced by Peter Jackson, and rumor has it that this movie was Jackson’s test to see if Blomkamp was fit to direct the Halo movie he will soon produce.  The Halo references are definitely there, with the aliens’ robot suits looking very Halo-like, but I was glad to see this trailer and know District 9 will stand on it’s own as one heck of a movie.  August 14th can’t come soon enough.
